AnglerCo Rizz Jig – Menhaden Glow Slow Pitch Jig

You spoke. We listened.

Introducing the Menhaden Glow Rizz Jig, our #1 recommended baitfish pattern and the color we’d tell you to start with if you’re adding a Rizz Jig to your box.

Menhaden are one of the most important forage fish in the ocean. Depending on where you fish, you may know them as menhaden, bunker, peanut bunker, pogies, or pogy. Different name, same result: predators eat them everywhere.

We built Menhaden Glow to capture that universal baitfish profile and combine it with the Rizz Jig’s signature S-shaped body and broken-bait action. It kicks, slides, hangs, and flutters like an injured baitfish falling away from the school.

If you’re not sure which Rizz color to fish, start here.

Our #1 Recommended Baitfish Pattern

There’s a reason anglers kept asking us for a menhaden pattern.

Menhaden are a major food source for predators throughout coastal and offshore fisheries. Striped bass hammer bunker in the Northeast, while tuna, kingfish, cobia, snapper, grouper, amberjack, and countless other predators key in on the same familiar baitfish profile.

The Menhaden Glow pattern combines a natural forage appearance with added glow to stay visible as light disappears with depth. That makes it a killer all-around choice whether you’re fishing around bait schools, dropping on deep structure, or working low-light and dirty-water conditions.

Why It Gets Crushed

  • Our #1 Recommended Pattern: If you’re choosing one Rizz Jig color, Menhaden Glow is where we recommend starting.
  • Universal Forage Profile: Designed to imitate menhaden, also known as bunker, peanut bunker, pogy, and pogies depending on the fishery.
  • Natural + Glow: Realistic baitfish appearance with added glow for visibility at depth and in low-light conditions.
  • Signature S-Shaped Body: Creates the Rizz Jig’s broken-bait flutter, wide slide, and unpredictable movement on the fall.
  • Head-First Darting Action: Tail-tied rigging produces an erratic fleeing-baitfish motion followed by a wounded flutter.
  • Center-Balanced Fall: Designed to hang, slide, and flutter in the strike zone instead of simply dropping straight through it.
  • Ready to Fish: Pre-rigged with heavy-duty assist hooks. Tie it on, drop it down, and get to work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Menhaden Glow?

Because menhaden get eaten by just about everything. They’re one of the most important forage species across a huge range of fisheries, which is why Menhaden Glow is our #1 recommended Rizz Jig pattern. If you’re unsure which color to start with, this is it.

What is a menhaden?

Menhaden are a saltwater forage fish that predators rely on throughout coastal and offshore fisheries. Depending on where you fish, you may hear them called bunker, peanut bunker, pogies, or pogy. Different regions use different names for the same baitfish.

How do you rig the Rizz Jig?

Tie your leader directly to the hardwire anchor point on the tail end of the jig. The Rizz Jig is designed to be fished tail-tied, creating aggressive head-first darting action followed by its signature broken-bait flutter on the fall.

What size should I choose?

A good starting point under normal conditions is roughly 1 gram of jig weight per foot of water:

  • 30g = around 30 feet
  • 70g = around 70 feet
  • 100g = around 100 feet
  • 150g = around 150 feet
  • 200g = around 200 feet
  • 300g = around 300 feet

This is only a starting point. Current, wind, drift, line diameter, and fishing style all affect how much weight you need. If you’re having trouble staying vertical or maintaining control of the jig, step up in weight.

Fishing deeper? 400g, 500g, and 600g Rizz Jigs are coming soon.

Does it come with hooks?

Yes. The 30g Rizz Jig comes pre-rigged with a single assist hook. All other currently available sizes (70g–300g) come pre-rigged with dual assist hooks and are ready to tie on and fish.

Need replacements or extras? AnglerCo Assist Pro Jig Hooks work with the entire AnglerCo jig lineup as well as jigs from other brands.

How do I fish the Rizz Jig?

The Rizz Jig is designed for slow pitch and long-fall jigging techniques. Drop the jig to your target depth, then use smooth upward rod lifts before lowering the rod tip back toward the water.

As the rod tip drops, introduce slight slack and let the jig work. The S-shaped body will flutter, slide, and hang horizontally like an injured baitfish falling away from the school.

Pay attention on the fall. That fluttering and hanging motion is where many of the bites happen.

When should I fish Menhaden Glow?

Pretty much anywhere predators are feeding on baitfish. Menhaden Glow was designed as an all-around confidence pattern that works around bait schools, reefs, wrecks, ledges, and deep structure.

The added glow also makes it a strong choice as light decreases with depth, during low-light conditions, at night, or in dirty water.

Are heavier Rizz Jigs coming?

Yes. For anglers fishing deeper water and heavier current, 400g, 500g, and 600g Rizz Jigs are coming soon.

We’re also expanding even further into heavier offshore applications with Deep Drop products coming soon.
